Flathead Valley Welcomes Innovative Urban Winery Concept, Where Wine Enthusiasts and Novices Alike Can Enjoy Expansive Wine Selection with Food Pairings

KALISPELL, MT – (July 28, 2020) – Waters Edge Winery & Bistro, Kalispell’s new, highly anticipated urban winery and neighborhood eatery, is set to open early next month in the Flathead Valley. Led by Angela and Trevor Zuba, the 3,500 square-foot Waters Edge Winery & Bistro is an innovative micro-winery offering an extensive wine menu with dozens of New and Old World wines and an eclectic food-pairing menu.

“We are beyond thrilled to open our doors as we welcome the Flathead Valley to enjoy a unique winery experience unlike any other,” said Angela Zuba, owner. “We are excited to recreate the winemaking and tasting experience for this area while contributing to our community’s wine and culture scene. We believe our new location will serve as an ideal date night spot or leisurely hangout for friends, and we can’t wait to welcome in our neighbors!”

Featuring unique design elements like a custom wine bar created from wine barrel staves and a light fixture made entirely of crystal wine glasses, Waters Edge Winery & Bistro Kalispell is a warm, welcoming space adorned with authentic elements of rustic Montana. The winery will also showcase rotating artwork from local artists including Chris Holguin Photography and Kathryn May, and will be available for sale on-site.

All wines are made in-house and feature classic selections as well as lesser-known grape varietals grown locally in further-reaching vineyards of Italy, France, New Zealand, Chile and Germany along with more local varietals from California and Washington. Highlights among the selection of reds are the “Red Eyed Vireo,” a savory, medium-bodied Spanish Tempranillo featuring notes of cherry, dried fig and cedar, as well as the “Ruby Crowned Knight,” a California red blend that is rich on the palate and similar to an off-dry Merlot. The white wine list features a well-rounded offering with options like the “Northern Shrike,” a special reserve Pinot Blanc from California’s Monterey County, or the “Mountain Plover” with inviting passionfruit, cut grass, and grapefruit aromas that carry through to the palate of this crisp Australian Sauvignon Blanc. Perfect for summer, the winery also offers several Sangrias including the refreshing “Glossy Ibis,” a Pinot Grigio with juicy flavors of ripe pears and pineapple.

Wine tastings featuring five one-ounce pours are available and free with purchase of a bottle. In addition, guests may opt for a wine board featuring four two-ounce pours of white, red or Sangria. To accompany its extensive wine and beverage menus, food offerings include a selection of globally inspired tapas, salads, paninis, flatbreads and desserts. Highlights include the “Baked Prosciutto and Brie” with creamy almond butter over fresh baguette, the “Aloha Flatbread” featuring sweet ham, smoked gruyere, sweet pineapple, banana peppers and fresh tomatoes, and the “Savory Stuffed Peppers” with fresh jalapeños and just the right amount of cheesy bacon filling. The menu also features gourmet charcuterie and cheese boards.

The Zubas relocated to the Flathead Valley from Coaldale, Alberta, Canada to pursue their American entrepreneurial dream.  Prior to this new venture, Angela spent nearly 20 years growing businesses and not-for-profit organizations in Lethbridge and was active in local business and politics, serving as CEO of the Canadian Homebuilders Association where she led the efforts to help business owners understand how to grow their businesses and navigate complicated regulatory systems. After spending time personally in the Flathead Valley area, Angela and Trevor decided to relocate, opening their new business and raising their family in the Valley.

“It is truly a lifelong dream of ours to own a winery, and we are so thankful for the opportunity to move to America to pursue our dreams,” said Zuba. “We are excited to share our love of wine from around the world with the residents and tourists in the Flathead Valley who stop in to visit us, and we look forward to providing them with a place where they can create memories over a glass of wine.”
