Local Business Owner Scott Nuttall and Retired NJ Police Officer, Owner of Second Chance Bicycle Shop Ernie Clark Leading Joint Charitable Effort – Along with Sponsors Penske, Lowe’s & Costco

CENTENNIAL, Colo. – (September 1, 2021) PuroClean Certified Restoration of Centennial, a Colorado location of one of the country’s leading restoration and remediation franchises, today announced it has partnered with Ernie Clark, owner of Second Chance Bicycle Shop, on a joint charitable effort surrounding the 20th anniversary of 9/11.  Through this unique initiative, 405 flags (a nod to the 405 first responders who perished during the 9/11 terrorist attacks) will be collected at Penske in Denver and paraded throughout Colorado before a special ceremony featuring a flyover formation and commemorative lap, to take place on September 11, 2021.

“As we approach the 20th anniversary of 9/11, it’s important for our children and the next generation to understand why we need to commemorate this fateful day,” said former NJ police officer and Presidential United States Volunteer Service Award recipient Ernie Clark. “We not only want to honor our brave men and women who were first responders to the scene but also their K-9 officers, including one dog, in particular, Sirius, who served his duty to our country that day and made the ultimate sacrifice.”

Thanks to donations from sponsors Penske store No. 7245 in Denver, Lowe’s of Parker, and Costco in Aurora, 405 flags will be collected and placed in cement, using a Lowe’s bucket, and will make a journey throughout Colorado to honor the fallen. The flags will be on display September 10th at Stagecoach Saloon from 2 to 4 p.m. before being displayed at Wide Open Saloon in Sedalia from 5 to 10 p.m.  The flags will then be brought to O’Brien Park for a special ceremony.

At midnight, supporters gathered at O’Brien Park will have a moment of reflection 405 minutes prior to the moment American Airlines Flight 767 hit the north tower of the World Trade Center. There will be a First Bell and Second Bell signifying the moments the attacks took place. A “Missing Man” flyover formation will be performed by volunteer pilots from Colorado’s Buckley Air Force Base using F-16 “Fighting Falcon” jets. Breakfast will be served to all first responders working overnight in the park as a special gesture, and the flags will be available for purchase with a small donation.

PuroClean Restoration Services has also sponsored a commemorative lap around the Colorado National Speedway, Colorado’s premier NASCAR track, located in Dacono. The lap will begin at 6:30 p.m. on September 11, 2021.

“We are deeply proud and honored to be a part of this commemorative celebration for our nation’s heroes, the first responders who bravely faced danger and lost their lives 20 years ago,” said Nuttall.  “We’re grateful for the support of PuroClean Vice Chairman Frank Torre and the entire PuroClean corporate support team, who prioritize those who served our country each and every day in a variety of ways and have been instrumental in this initiative.”

“We are immensely proud of the work that PuroClean does for our communities,” said Torre.  “Scott and his team are helping us remember and honor our fallen 9/11 first responders. This is something that PuroClean stands behind; it embodies the spirit of PuroClean, of leading with a servant heart.”
