Mark Galvin To Lead Marketing Efforts for Community-Oriented Destination

Located Just North of Atlanta

Dunwoody, Ga. – June 21, 2022Discover Dunwoody, the destination marketing organization (DMO) responsible for promoting tourism within the thriving city located just north of Atlanta, today announced the appointment of Mark Galvin as director of marketing. Mark joins Discover Dunwoody with nearly three decades of business management and hospitality industry experience. He specializes in blending technology, networking, and branding to create impactful marketing programs. Over the course of his career, Galvin has focused on developing leaders, salespeople and strategic marketing visions.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mark to our team and look forward to seeing him leverage his unique combination of hospitality, tourism and social media experience, as well as his exceptional interpersonal skills, to support our valued partners across the destination,” said Ray Ezelle, executive director of Discover Dunwoody.

Galvin brings experience from various hotel brands including InterContinental Hotel Group, Hyatt, Marriott, Omni, as well as independent hotels and resorts. He began his hospitality career working in room operations, serving as front office manager and housekeeping director. He was quickly promoted to take on more responsibility, including overseeing sales as director of associations at the largest hotel in Georgia, the Marriott Marquis in downtown Atlanta.

Later, Galvin served as the director of planner development at Connect Meetings, where he led a team that – through strategic research, motivation and creativity – identified highly qualified meeting planners to attend meetings and events. During his tenure with Connect, Mark led initiatives to implement new technologies that achieved higher levels of efficiency and focused on team development. Mark left Connect Meetings to start ePresence, a full-service social media agency that manages both individual and company social media programs. The agency also offered training and consulting to optimize social media.

Widely considered a pioneering leader in social media, Galvin is frequently called on as a commentator on key industry issues. He served as the social media expert for WSB Radio’s “Lenz on Business” radio show and has also been a guest on numerous podcasts. He hosts “How’s Your ePresence?”, which is both a webcast and podcast, featured on Gwinnett BusinessRadioX, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, all podcast channels, including Spotify and iTunes, and hosts a LIVE LinkedIn channel. On the show, he offers a selection of how-to’s for digital marketing professionals and companies. He continuously expands the library of topics to assist his audience with de-mystifying digital marketing for businesses.

Galvin is also highly involved in the community. During his tenure with Rotary Club of Brookhaven, he was named the 2018 Rotarian of the Year. In 2019, the DeKalb Rotary Council honored him with the William Mulkey Show Rotary Cares Award. He has also been active in the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, earning the 2019 Business of the Year Award, Emerging Business. He currently serves on the leadership team for Brookhaven PowerCore and has served in three different officer roles, including serving as team coach and advisor to the Perimeter and Lilburn PowerCore teams. Galvin is active at his Catholic Parish, Immaculate Heart of Mary, and chairs the Stewardship Committee, while also leading both the Lectors and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion Ministries. As a Marist School alumnus, he has served on the school’s Alumni Association Board for the past five years and currently serves as the director. He is a founding member of Marist’s Synaxis and is in the midst of a three-year program to explore and implement a program focused on the school’s future. In 2022, the Marist Alumni Association named Galvin its Father Hartnett Service Award winner.

Galvin resides in Tucker with his wife of 30 years. The couple has three adult children, James, Caitlin and Claire.

“I had the privilege of working with Mark at Connect Meetings and am excited about what he is going to bring to the table for us here in Dunwoody,” continued Ezelle. “One of the most special things about Mark is his deep roots in the hospitality community and the way he has forged meaningful relationships throughout his career. We are excited to have him onboard as we enter a new chapter of growth for the destination!”
