Painter’s Pond at Massanutten Resort to be Stocked with Over 3,000 Fish for Kids to Catch

Massanutten Resort Kids Fishing DayMASSANUTTEN, Va. – (April 3, 2023) – Premier four-season resort Massanutten Resort invites children ages 15 and under to visit its Painter’s Pond on Saturday, April 15, 2023, to fish a pond filled with over 3,000 fish for an event held by the Rockingham County Department of Recreation. Children can try their luck, and patience, at hooking and baiting their catch, and have the opportunity to catch up to six trout each. Kids’ Fishing Day will provide a great opportunity for beginners to learn the art of fishing and those more experienced to enjoy a pond filled with an abundance of fish for an exciting day with lots of bites.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Rockingham County to offer Kids’ Fishing Day for the 18th consecutive year,” Brett Mowbray, golf operations manager, said. “We are always looking to invite the local community to experience the unique offerings of the resort and are excited to carry on the tradition of Kids’ Fishing Day this year.”

Goodie bags will be provided for all participants, along with the chance to win prizes. There are two time slots available to choose from: 9 – 11:30 a.m. or 1 – 3:30 p.m. (pre-registration is required). A Special Olympics Fishing Day will also be offered on Sunday, April 16, 2023. Call 540-564-3160 if interested in participating in the Special Olympics Fishing Day.

Fishers looking to extend their day at Massanutten Resort can pair Kids’ Fishing Day with a trip to the indoor WaterPark to try their hand at surfing on the surf simulator, relaxing on the lazy river, splashing in the water fortresses, or racing down one of the waterslides. Those who would like to stay outside and enjoy the sweet smells of spring can head to the resort’s Family Adventure Park to summer tube down a slope and reach speeds of up to 30mph, rock climb, and soar down the resort’s Mega Zip line.

After a day filled with activities, guests can take advantage of one the four on-site restaurants at Massanutten Resort, two coffee bars and several seasonal treat and snack shops, like Base Camp for mountainside delights, Splash’s Bar & Grill for seafood specialties or Campfire Grill, serving up dishes like campfire stove chili, cast iron cornbread and skillet s’mores.
