The highly anticipated annual competition will take place at the Southeast’s newest tennis facility, South Fulton Tennis Center, from Thursday, September 15 to Sunday, September 18. Open to all HBCUs, this year’s National Tennis Championships will be the biggest in the event’s history, as nearly 250 players take to the courts representing 15 schools from across the United States.

“We are honored to host the 21st Annual HBCU National Tennis Championships in the City of South Fulton for the very first time,” said Chantel Ross Francois, executive director of the South Fulton CVB. “We look forward to providing a safe and memorable experience for the athletes and fans visiting us over the next several days, as we welcome them into our wonderful community.”

On Wednesday, September 14, the day before the competition officially kicks off, the South Fulton CVB team will host a VIP Opening Reception from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Fairfield Inn & Suites.

The tournament itself will include singles and doubles matches, with first-round matches beginning at 8:30 a.m. Each draw is expected to start with the round of 16-32 for singles and the round of 16 for doubles. Schools may enter up to four singles players and three doubles teams in any flight. Trophies will be awarded to first- and second-place finishers in each flight and first-place consolation winners. The team’s top nine players will gain a point for each win, which will determine the overall team champion.

Food trucks will be available for guests at the official tournament hotels, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott and Hampton Inn. The South Fulton CVB will provide guests with information on activities in the area that friends and family can enjoy when they are not at the games.
