Leader in Independent Music Cruises Makes $20K Initial Commitment,
Will Also Donate Portion of Proceeds from 2019 Salsa Cruise, 2020 Groove Cruise
MIAMI, Fla. – September 6, 2019 – On the heels of Hurricane Dorian, Whet Travel today announced its support of the Bahamian Relief Consortium, a new group launched earlier this week by leaders from the South Florida business community. Beginning today, the company will donate a portion of all future ticket sales through October 15th for its 2019 Salsa Cruise and 2020 Groove Cruise. In addition, the Whet Travel Foundation has agreed to match donations of up to $10,000 total. Whet Foundation is an approved 501C3 charity which will provide much needed supplies to the Bahamian People. In addition, Whet Travel provides an easy point of access for their Captains (current and past guests), agents, and the company’s internal teams to volunteer in the relief effort.
“The islands of the Bahamas have earned a special place in our hearts over our many years of cruising the Caribbean,” said Jason Beukema, founder and CEO of Whet Travel. “We’re proud to show our support for the Bahamian Relief Consortium through our own foundation and are hopeful that our efforts will help our neighbors in the Bahamas rebuild safely and quickly.”
“We are proud of the cruise industry’s response and join them in our commitment to assist our friends and neighbors in the Bahamas,” said Dwain Wall, head of business development at Whet Travel and former head of Cruise Line International Trade and Industry Relations (CLIA).
